HOW COPPER 8 GOT IT'S NAME

  The story of our company name is just as important as the story we tell through our client’s spaces.

  We landed on three key wants for the name: we wanted it to be fun and quirky, to incorporate both the right and left brain aspects of our work, and leave the door open to healthy succession someday.

1. We knew the right name would strike a fun and quirky tone, and leave our clients asking ‘why’?
2. In choosing a name, we wanted to express both the left and right brain sides of the profession of interior design. Our work is creative and concept-driven at the beginning, then once we establish a design concept, we move into the technical and analytical work that allows for seamless execution. The right name would encompass both of these aspects.
3. We wanted a name that would highlight our approach and our portfolio of work, without placing the focus on ourselves. This way we leave room for the company to grow and evolve over the years ahead and include others who may lead with us in the future.

  Once we began working with our branding team to establish our core values of connection, energy, and insight; the ideas for the names started flowing. Through creative brainstorming; the word ‘Copper’ resonated well. Copper, a material used as a connector, feels grounded and familiar.

  We knew we had found part of our company name, but something was missing.

  A fortuitous encounter revealed that the numbers in the year we were establishing our business added up to 8, which in numerology represents both prosperity and success.

At that moment, we knew we had landed on our name: COPPER 8.

  As our company has grown, our clients have noticed that if you turn the numeral 8 on its side, you will see the symbol for infinity, which now adds welcome notes of fluidity and longevity to our name. Some also hear the word ‘cooperate’, which we love.

  Playfully known as “COPPER” or “C8” in the design community, we look forward to delivering on our clients’ visions for years to come.
